Everything Is Crystal Clear

“Everything Is Crystal Clear” is a site-specific installation, at Selebe-Yoon gallery in Dakar. A saline landscape from which emerge scattered found images interweaving histories, memories and traumas. Employing locally sourced salt and sand as her primary material, she constructs encompassing environments of abstract landscapes and dispersions. The acidic and corrosive crystals of salt, often traded by women in the region, animate wounded skins, raised fists, fingers with various injunctions, entwined hands—gestures that either make, control or liberate.

Title is taken from a graffiti in Iran, during the Woman Life Freedom uprisings and after the killing of Armita Geravand, 17, a student who was bitten and killed for disobeying hijab on her way to school in 2023.
